V. Factors that can affect your chances of getting pregnant.

i. Age
After age 30 these numbers drop with each coming month and they drop steeply after age 40. For women over the age of 35, if she has not conceived after 6 months of trying, then she should consult with her doctor regarding the next steps.
ii. Irregular menstrual cycles
Irregular cycles can make it a bit more tricky to know when you are ovulating and therefore calculating the ideal time to have sex.
iii. Frequency of sex
Couples who have less sex are less likely to conceive.
iv. The amount of time you have been trying to get pregnant
If a couple has been trying to conceive for a year or more then there may be a reason that needs to be addressed. This should be discussed with your doctor. The male and female partner should both be evaluated for fertility issues.
v. Underlying medical issues
Some medical conditions can contribute to fertility. These conditions should be treated and controlled to increase the likelihood of conception.
